Marcus is passionate about helping organizations to break into new paradigms and become powerful forces for good. He believes in the role that businesses and nonprofit organizations need to play in our society, and would like to help these organizations to fulfil their social purpose.

Marcus has assisted nonprofit organizations, and recently businesses, to adopt new business models and paradigms in order to improve their performance and social impact. Marcus has consulted to over 45 nonprofit organizations, government projects and businesses in South Africa. He is also an enthusiastic writer and has published a number of articles in South African media, and spoken at conferences and seminars.

Marcus is intrigued by the emergence of social enterprises and venture philanthropy, and the spirit of social entrepreneurship. He would like to see businesses playing a far broader role in society and genuinely engaging in social issues. He would also like to see nonprofit organizations learning from businesses. He is particularly interested in social enterprises, and how both businesses and nonprofit organizations can start the journey towards becoming social enterprises.

He has an Honours Degree in Business Science from the University of Cape Town and a Masters Degree (cum laude) in Social Development from the University of the Western Cape. In 2006, Marcus joined Business Sculptors and now leads its Social Enterprise Practice.
